It is the great pleasure to share with you all that the deshpande fellowship program cohort – ii started.

Orientation was for three days (20^th Jan, 2009 to 22^nd Jan, 2009). I am very happy.

We are twenty two fellows in this cohort –ii. Names are Ajay, Basavaraj, Beeralinga, Chandrashekhar, Chandru, Davalsaheb, Devadanam, Fathima, Gayatri, Hanamantha, Jagadeesh, Lakshmish, Latha, Lingaraj, Mahantesh, Malini, Meenakshi, Shambhulinga, Savita, Usha, Veeresh and myself yoginder.

First day 20^th January

 Day started with some icebreaking games by Taryn (Program Director). Mr. Naveen Jha director of the DSCE (Deshpande Centre for Social Entrepreneurship) and manages the Deshpande Foundation’s India operations. He had introduced all the DF staff to us. He gave overview of DFP, reward system, DFP goals and reward scale. Then we papered poster about our self and then Program Manager Chinnababu had told about DFP policies. In the evening there was dinner with LEAD program volunteers before the dinner they presented their work.

Second day 21^st January

 Day started with icebreaking games by Taryn. It was fixed that we were to meet with sandbox fellows before that we pasted our chart on the library. Then three sandbox fellows (Rebecca Kline, Lesley Pories and Liza Fouksman) presented their work. Than the time was of Poster session and I shoed my Poster to seven people. Then we go to sub-jail Hubli it is a part of community service project there we presented two plays on social and health issue, song, jokes and mimicry. And in the last of that day we had dinner with sandbox fellows.

Third day 23^rd January

 It was the last day of orientation we went to two places for visit

1. Ahayaks Patra means an ”Inexhaustible vessel’ from which unlimited food can be drawn. It is a foundation. It started feeding children in June 2000. The centralized kitchens of Akshaya Patra are technology-intensive, and can cook about 100,000 meals in less than five hours with least human intervention and sustained quality. We went akshayapatra at 5am and it was wondered to me that it is a great kitchen. http://www.akshayapatra.org
2. Agastya is a trust working on education they believe that practical is very important for learning. Agastya is encoring scientific knowledge and major thing spark the curiosity in children and youth. www.agastya.org

After both visit Mr. Naveen Jha discussed and I understood the really work of these Ngos. In a short amount good quality works with the passion.

In the last session we met with DFP Cohort I fellow they share their views and experience with us.

It was good experience to me.

It was a second good opportunity for the cohort II fellows because yesterday (13 Jan 2009) Mr. Ketan Deshpande founder and chairman of FUEL (Friends Union for Energising Lives) have come as a guest speaker and it was a very good time with them.

Points he told us:

Ø  Always think for the success then you will get success.

Ø  Don’t go beyond your capacity.

Ø  Before taking a step first know your aim.

Ø  Think innovative

Ø  Leadership is impotent but don’t forget leader shift.

Ø  Mantra of success Learning – Creativity – Thinking – Knowledge.

All the things he told us by the stories and shows the motivation video. He has a very good way to talk and explain the think. All fellows was listening him carefully.

Mr. Ketan Deshpande: Mr. Ketan Deshpande is founder & chairman of FUEL, Chief Editor of student’s FUEL (Four Editions published till date), and Represented India for International Youth Camp at Japan President of St. Aloysius school Exstudents association, Has Trained Development Executives on “Colleges, Students Expectations and approach”.

FUEL (Friends Union for Energising Lives): It is a group of Students who have decided to dedicate their effort to VISION 2020 and help India represent the world in technological, social, and human growth development. FUEI is a Charitable Trust formed by students for empowering students. It is fully managed by student volunteers.   It was a nice day to cohort II fellows of Deshpande foundation because Mr.Srinath Subrahamnayam Sr. Director Yahoo! Bangalore had come to give a lecture. He spent one and half hour with us and told about their project of connecting the ngo through the technology. He want to that every ngo there data to online so that it is easy to take data to everyone. He shared the experience of Agastya NGO works. How the Agastya NGO work through this project. His idea is improved productivity through collaboration, increase quality through system support, deepen interrelation through technology.

The history of the Taj Mahal tells us “why was the Taj Mahal built” and many other myths and facts associated with this wonderful structure. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan erected the Taj Mahal in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan (then Prince Khurram) met Mumtaz Mahal (then Arjumand Banu Begum) at the age of fourteen and fell in love at the first sight. She was a Muslim Persian princess and Shah Jahan was the son of the Mughal Emperor, Jehangir. Five years later, in 1612, they got married. As you read further you will come to know more about the history of the Taj Mahal at Agra…

Mumtaz Mahal, an inseparable companion of Shah Jahan, died in 1631, while giving birth to their 14th child. It is believed that during her last moments, Mumtaz Mahal obtained a promise from Shah Jahan that he will build world’s most beautiful monument in her memory. But this has not been proven to be true, till date. However, Shah Jahan did indeed build a magnificent monument as a tribute to her wife, which we today know as the “Taj Mahal”. Shah Jahan, himself also, lies entombed in this mausoleum along with his wife.

The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631 and it took approximately 22 years to build it. An epitome of love, it made use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants. It was built entirely out of white marble, which was brought in from all over India and central Asia. After an expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees (approx US $68000), Taj Mahal was finally completed in the year 1653. However, the history of Taj Mahal of India still has some gaps. For example, there are many theories regarding the architect of this magnificent monument.

Charminar

Charminar is always on the top of the mind of any tourist visiting Hyderabad. To say that Charminar is a major landmark in the city is to state the obvious, to repeat a cliché. The great monument is a synonym for Hyderabad and the pivot around which the glory and history of the city have developed. To imagine this 400-year-old city without Charminar is to imagine New York without the Statue of Liberty or Moscow without the Kremlin. Built by Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah in 1591, shortly after he had shifted his capital from Golkonda to what now is known as Hyderabad, this beautiful colossus in granite, lime, mortar and, some say, pulverised marble, was at one time the heart of the city. This great tribute to aesthetics looks sturdy and solid from a distance but as one moves closer, it emerges as an elegant and romantic edifice proclaiming its architectural eminence in all its detail and dignity. Apart from being the core of the city’s cultural milieu, it has become a brand name.

Charminar is a squarish structure with four towers in the four corners of the square, each of whose sides is 20 metres in length. Every side opens into a plaza through giant arches, which overlook four major thoroughfares and dwarf other features of the building except the minarets. Each arch is 11 metres wide and rises 20 metres to the pinnacle from the plinth. The minarets soar skywards by 24 metres from the roof of Charminar. Each minaret has four storeys, each looking like a delicately carved ring around the minaret. Some Anglophiles call Charminar the Arc de Triomphe of the East. From the ground to the apex, the minarets cover a length of 48.7 metres.

According to Mir Moazzam Husain, a long time official of the UNESCO and a keen student of this historic city, “these minarets may even symbolise the first four khalifs of Islam, but I cannot vouch for this interpretation with any degree of certainty.” At the western end of the roof of Charminar is a beautiful mosque; the oldest in Hyderabad, and the rest of the roof was used as a court in Qutub Shahi times. Atop the great monument are 45 prayer spaces for the devout where they can offer worship in an atmosphere unspoilt by the bustle of the city. East of this space is a spacious verandah with small and large arches in the middle. The first floor has beautiful balconies from where one has a fantastic view of the historic city and its later accretions.

 HARIDWAR

Haridwar is the gateway to the four pilgrimages of Uttaranchal. It’s also your starting point on the journey to the sacred sources of the rivers Ganga and the Yamuna. According to legend, Prince Bhagirath performed penance here to salvage the souls of his ancestors who had perished due to sage Kapil’s curse. The penance was answered and the river Ganga trickled forth from Lord Shiva’s locks and its bountiful water revived the sons of King Sagara. In the tradition of Bhagirath, devout Hindus stand in the sacred waters here, praying for salvation of their ancestors.

This is yoginder Singh I am in hubli right now and now the question is why. don’t take tension I am telling you I am here for Deshpande fellowship program cohort II. And today I learn how to create a blog. Mr. badari and his collogue has come to teach that how to ceart the blogs. Frankly I told you in the starting I am feeling bore in class but after starting presentation I feel good. After the presentation we started to create the blogs he teach in a very simple way and also he told about the different between the tag and categorize. tag is like the index and categorize is like content. Really the fellowship program is to good. They always call to good teacher for the class. I will do my best for the blog create.

I want to give thanks to chinnababu who is arrange   all the things and thanks to all the teacher who teaching us blog creating. And a special thank to mr. naveen jha how is responsible for it.
